Burning Carbon-Based Fuels—A Real Problem

Energy is one of the most basic needs of the modern world and has been primarily derived from burning carbon-based fuels. This model is not sustainable for several reasons:

• As carbon-based fuels are consumed scarcity issues arise, driving prices higher and causing conflict over the limited supply.
• The emissions from burning carbon-based fuels cause substantial damage to plant, animal, and human life.
• Most global climate change experts believe that global warming is caused by burning carbon-based fuels and will result in catastrophic damage to the planet.
